Our standards are higher than the average.

Your dog will be trained to understand and listen to 5 different commands (heel, sit, down, stay, come, place) as well as understanding what the word “no” means.

These commands are taught on leash, graduated to off leash, and then put to the true test under our care with distractions like other dogs, humans, in real world environments (restaurants, stores, parks, walking trails, the beach). When we say we lay a solid foundation for your 4-legged best friend, we mean it! Anyone can train a dog to sit for a treat- our team takes obedience training to different level with clear communication and makes learning fun! What differentiates us from other dog training facilities?

Board and Train Program For Dogs

When it comes to dog training, there are numerous options available. However, at Utah Canine Academy, we have chosen to exclusively offer board and train services. Why, you ask? Simply put, because it works!

Many dog owners lack the time, dedication, experience, or motivation required to achieve their training goals. Just as you would hire a CPA to handle your taxes effectively, it makes sense to enlist the help of professional dog trainers to ensure a well-mannered pup.

Why Are Board and Train Programs Effective?

1. Time

Our Board and Train Program allows us to dedicate ample time to each dog at our facility. We understand that teaching dogs new concepts in a safe and impactful way requires patience, and rushing the process is counterproductive. With our trainers spending eight hours a day, five days a week with the dogs, we can cater to their individual needs.

2. Consistency

Consistency is key when it comes to learning lifelong skills, like learning to read for humans or coming when called for dogs. Our trainers establish and maintain consistent rules and expectations each day, reinforcing the training progress made. This approach lays a solid foundation of obedience, enabling dogs to respond reliably even in distracting situations.

3. Expertise

Our team possesses a deep understanding of dog behavior and psychology. Our expertise allows us to decipher the unspoken cues from your dog, enabling us to communicate effectively and help them overcome their issues and confusion. We then translate this communication into a simplified method that both the dog and owner can understand. As a result, you, as a dog owner, will have a well-mannered dog that understands your commands.

When it comes to effective dog training, our Board and Train Program stands out for its proven success. The dedicated time, consistency, and expertise of our trainers contribute to creating a solid foundation of obedience in your dog. Through boarding and training together, you are investing in a well-behaved companion and learning the skills necessary to maintain effective communication. Reach your training goals with the help of Utah Canine Academy.

Here are a few key reasons why investing in dog obedience training with us is crucial:

Safety:

A well-trained dog is less likely to put themselves or others in danger. They will reliably respond to commands such as “sit,” “stay,” and “come,” which can prevent accidents and keep them out of harm’s way.

Socialization:

By exposing your dog to new environments, people, and other animals, obedience training helps them develop proper social skills. This ensures that they can confidently interact with others and reduces the likelihood of aggressive or anxious behavior.

Stress Reduction:

Dogs thrive on structure and consistency. Obedience training provides them with clear guidelines and boundaries, reducing their anxiety and providing them with a sense of security.

Strengthened Bond:

Training sessions are not just about teaching commands; they are opportunities for you and your dog to build trust, respect, and a deeper connection. The shared experience of training strengthens the bond you have with your furry companion.

Dog obedience training is a fundamental aspect of responsible pet ownership. It establishes clear communication between you and your dog, fosters a strong bond, and enhances their overall well-being.

We work with all dog breeds and all sizes of dogs. We pride ourselves on doing great work and creating lifelong customers by transforming their dogs with high anxiety and other problems.

Dog Rehabilitation

We understand that some dogs may require special attention and care due to behavioral challenges resulting from aggression, fear, anxiety, or experiences in a shelter environment. Our dog rehabilitation program is designed to help these dogs overcome their past traumas, build trust, and develop positive behaviors that allow them to thrive in their homes.

What is dog rehabilitation? Dog rehabilitation is a holistic approach to addressing and improving a dog’s mental and emotional well-being. It involves creating a safe and supportive environment where dogs can learn to manage and overcome their fears, anxieties, or aggressive tendencies. The goal of rehabilitation is to help these dogs develop new, positive behaviors and build confidence, so they can lead happier, balanced lives.

Addressing Aggression

Aggression in dogs can stem from various factors, including fear, territoriality, or past traumatic experiences, lack of structure or trust. Our rehabilitation program focuses on identifying the underlying causes of aggression and implementing targeted techniques to modify their behavior. Through positive reinforcement, socialization, and desensitization exercises, we work to reduce their reactivity and help them develop healthier coping mechanisms.

Overcoming Fear and Anxiety

Dogs that have experienced neglect, abuse, or a lack of socialization may exhibit fear or anxiety in various situations. Our rehabilitation program emphasizes creating a calm and predictable environment where these dogs can gradually build confidence and learn to trust again. We use gradual exposure, counter-conditioning, and confidence-building exercises to help them overcome their fears and anxieties.

Transitioning from a Shelter

Dogs coming from a shelter environment often face unique challenges due to their previous experiences. They may have limited socialization, trust issues, or difficulty adjusting to a home environment. Our rehabilitation program focuses on providing structure, routine, and positive reinforcement to help these dogs adapt to their new surroundings. We work on building trust, establishing boundaries, and teaching basic obedience skills to give them a solid foundation for a successful transition.

How We Approach Dog Rehabilitation

  1. Individualized Assessment: We begin by conducting a thorough evaluation of each dog’s behavior, history, and triggers. This assessment helps us understand the underlying causes of their issues and design a personalized rehabilitation plan.
  2. Positive Reinforcement: We use these techniques, which involve rewarding desired behaviors and redirecting or ignoring unwanted behaviors. This approach helps dogs associate positive experiences with the desired behaviors, leading to lasting changes.
  3. Patience and Consistency: Dog rehabilitation requires patience, time, and consistency. We work closely with both the dog and their owner, providing guidance and support throughout the process. Regular training sessions, along with at-home exercises and continuous follow-up, ensure progress and success.
  4. Gradual Exposure and Socialization: We gradually expose dogs to various stimuli, environments, and social situations to help them become more comfortable and confident. Controlled socialization with other dogs and humans, under the guidance of our experienced trainers, allows for positive interactions and improved social skills. Our experienced trainers are dedicated to helping dogs overcome their behavioral challenges and achieve a happier, more balanced life. Through our rehabilitation program, we aim to give every dog a second chance by providing them with the necessary tools and support to overcome their fears, anxieties, and aggression.
